VEHICLE INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE

By conducting a regular vehicle maintenance inspection, you will be helping yourself, your family and your friends... stay safe on the roads... protect the environment... and preserve your investment. A well-maintained vehicle is much less likely to break down and in most cases, potential vehicle problems can be spotted before a problem occurs. Listed below are a list of things you and your service provider should be looking at.

Do-it-Yourself Maintenance Checklist

Take care of your tires – maintain proper air pressure and check tread depth (see Useful Auto Tips).

Replace worn out parts, such as belts and hoses, before they break.

Check all of the fluids (Brake, Coolant /Anti-Freeze, Power Steering, Transmission, Washer fluid) in your car, not just the oil and gas.

Check (and replace annually) Cabin Filters to prevent breathing unwanted contaminant's such as pollen, dust, mold spores and smog.

Clean your vehicle regularly and tend to nicks and chips immediately to prevent rusting.

Ensure your brakes are working properly in case you need to make a panic stop.

Make sure you can see where you are driving. Wipe (or scrape) the snow or ice off ALL your windows.

Make sure your wipers are working properly as well, and that you have the appropriate washer fluid.

Ensure all of your lights are working properly. Front, back and signal lights are all vital to safe driving.

Make sure your defroster is working properly, and that you completely defrost your windshields before driving.

Ensure your exhaust system is not damaged, as you do not want harmful gases seeping into your car. Also ensure there is no snow blocking your exhaust.
